Working @ EBS

EBS University

We offer courses through EBS University to develop our employees’ skills and knowledge. Courses range from one to six weeks in length and encompass the basics of group benefits, the types of plans, the benefits administration, and how EBS supports them. Specific job training is provided by the new employee’s team.

EBS University also provides advanced training throughout the year on subjects such as ERISA and COBRA. These courses are open to all employees, and many include Continuing Education (CE) credit hours toward satisfaction of licensing requirements.

Sherpa Program

The Sherpa Program is a 90-day informal “buddy” program to assist new hires as they transition into the firm. This voluntary program provides an opportunity to meet other EBS employees through the New Hire Mixer. In addition, the program allows for a safe and inviting environment to ask questions. The Sherpa Program kicks off once a candidate accepts an EBS offer typically with an introductory phone call from the Sherpa to the new hire.

Performance Review

EBS supports both success and growth for all employees by conducting electronic performance reviews twice each year. Using our customized performance tool, "PATH," this is an opportunity for collaborative, two-way communication between employees and supervisors regarding the employees' development needs and future goals. Because EBS is a value-driven organization, our performance review process is based on our seven core values (ASCENDE).

Professional Development

EBS creates a learning environment by offering on-site instructor-led training for our employees. We support several avenues for those seeking development opportunities, including professional and technical training programs.

  • EBS offers a variety of soft skill training seminars throughout the year, which may include supervisory training, performance review process, business writing, business etiquette, and time management.
  • EBS designates Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), who have a comprehensive understanding of a specific subject matter that serves as an internal resource for topic-specific research and guidance.
  • EBS provides a Mentor Program. This is a 6-month program initiated by the employee.
  • EBS schedules a 3-day Texas Insurance License exam preparation class for each client-facing employee, at no cost to the employee.
